Ala-Archa river gorge is one of the most beautiful places in the Kyrgyz Republic situated just in 30 km from Bishkek. It’s a unique natural zone. This natural park takes territory of about 20.000 hectares’ and includes all the Kyrgyzstan landscape climatic zones: from subalpine delighting visitors with the beauty of its fir and birch forests and to high-mountain covered with eternal snows and glaciers.
«Ala-Archa» Kyrgyz State Natural Park was established in 1976. The aims were to protect natural objects and unique natural monuments, reproduction of the rare and disappearing plants and animals species, arrangement of the civilized recreation system, tourism and mountaineering development. Is one of the main sights seeing of Bishkek. One can get to a mountainous paradise in twenty minutes driving from the capital. Ala-Archa fauna is also very diverse. The biggest of its predators recorded in the “Red book” is snow leotard (ilbirs in Kyrgyz). Kyrgyz people call him «a diamond set in the pearl of the mountain peaks». And nest of the very rare bird, which is considered to be Happiness bird according to many legends, is hidden in the narrowest part of the gorge in the clefts.
Ala-Arca ravine is situated in the central, the highest part of the Kyrgyz range. Peak of Semenov Tien Shan (4875 meters), Corona peak (4855 meters) and Svobodnaya Korea peak (4740 meters) are the highest points of the Ala-Archa basin as well as of all Kyrgyz range.
Touristic infrastructure of the natural park is quite developed. There are comfortable cottages, restaurants, parking space in park. And the maintenance staff is always glad to receive visitors from all over the world.
